2017Fictive Kin

Fictive Kin was featured at Chamber Gallery in an exhibition titled Domestic Appeal, curated by Matylda Krzykowski. High back chairs always reach beyond what is ergonomically prudent. Like the irrationally expressive skyscrapers of a contemporary city, their height and personality gives definition to a space within a larger space. And the relation- ships between them can create an imaginary context for a person to temporarily inhabit.

This composition of chairs and a single dining table seeks to create a pseudo-urban domestic space. With engineered materials like foam and plastic laminate, the pieces embrace a technological naiveté that merges ubiquitous materials with an exuberant aesthetic fluidity similar towhat thrives in the digital spaces of 3D modeling programs or virtual reality platforms.
